My first blog video!!

It actually worked! We bought a new digital camera that can also record videos. I tried uploading a video to Youtube without success and was about to throw in the towel. Thankfully I found my patience and tried again. Here for your viewing pleasure is a cute video of Kate, entitled "The Many Faces of Kate." Like a teenager...

My frustrations continue to build. The bathroom tile was supposed to arrive on Friday of last week. That same day I was to receive a call letting me know when they'd arrive for work. No calls. So I impatiently wait until 10 a.m. this morning (Monday) and no one has any news to share. The tile has not yet come in and I was told to expect a phone call. So like a teenage girl waiting for that cute boy to call, I've carried my cell phone in my pocket everywhere I've gone today. I'm beginning to lose hope. To save myself from this torture I think I will cease blogging about the bathroom until it is completely done. I've been imagining myself on Oprah or Rachel Ray or Martha Stewart sharing my sob story. A contractor deconstructed our bathroom, only to abandon us completely. I will be 47 years old and still dragging Kate out to Grandma and Grandpa's house to bathe. Maybe if it is nice enough this summer I can use the garden hose to wash Kate's hair. The hard part

2009 NCAA Tournament Picks

Some years (or most) Matt questions the rationale behind my NCAA tourney picks. So for the first time in Craft Tales blog history I will explain to the world the logic behind my winning record. (OK, so it is not always winning but I don't do too bad.) Disclaimer: I am not going to explain all picks because some are just obvious and I didn't have much thought behind them. However, those picks that took thought will be described. Louisville v Alabama St./Morehead St. - Louisville, duh! Ohio State v Siena - I've never been 100% fond of the state of Ohio. Not that Iowa is always thrilling but Ohio doesn't sound like it offers much. Plus Siena is a fun school name. Utah v Arizona - While Utah may have some far out there religious views, I had to choose them because I imagine it to be a very pretty place to live. Plus, I love to downhill ski and I imagine they have some great skiing options. And while I love warm weather, I don't think I could live in the desert.

An Interview with Kate

Kate was making me change her stuffed Lambchop's diaper for the 20th time when I told her she will have to help me change the baby's diaper when he/she arrives. I then asked Kate if she thought the baby is a boy or girl. BOY! How big will he be? She stands and raises her hands to the sky...TALL! How many pounds will he weigh? TWO!! And what color hair will he have? PINK!! So according to Kate we are having a tall, 2 pound boy with pink hair. That will draw some attention. On a different subject, yesterday was so beautiful that we decided to have a picnic dinner on the porch. For dessert Kate and I made strawberry shakes. Kate loved her shake just a little too much...

Bathroom Stand Still - Part 2

I've received a few emails asking for the status of our bathroom. Well the reason I haven't posted about the project is because nothing is going on. The contractors worked for a day and a half last week and then ran out of work. The next step was to install wall tile however the wall tile we picked out in January has not yet arrived. So here we sit with a torn apart bathroom and no bathtub access. Kate has been bathing at Grandma and Grandpa Craft's house every other day. She loves visiting the farm and it helps us get out of the house but I'd still like to have a functioning bathroom. The wall tile is supposed to arrive next week, however the contractors are busy and don't know when they'll be able to get back here. Also, we were sad to discover our wood floors are not salvageable. Or at least I was sad about it. So I had to pick out floor tile too. Thankfully the floor tile is supposed to arrive with the wall tile. My hope is that the bathroom will be finished

New Digital Camera -- New Park Pics

1, 2, 3, 4, 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kate gets smarter by the day. And I'm not bias. :) We were at a basketball game the other day when Kate announced Matt was sitting in seat 5! Then she noticed she was in seat 4, and I was in seat 3. And then today we were playing at the park and she counted the steps as she was walking up them. Of course she did start at the number 4 but she made it all the way to 8, skipped 9 and yelled 10. So she isn't batting a perfect score but close. We practice our counting a lot when going up steps together at home. We will hold hands and I count as we climb. I never thought it would have such a positive influence. Oh, and she also noticed that I had a 5 on my t-shirt today! I'm so impressed, Kate!

Outside bath anyone?

We currently have a bathtub in our yard. Why?! BECAUSE THE CONTRACTOR CALLED TODAY AND ASKED IF THEY COULD START WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dance, dance, party, dance, boogie, twirl, giggle, leap. This was me after hanging up the phone. Apparently my 'bathroom remodel' dance worked. I figured some people do rain dances to bring on the rain, why not try a 'bathroom remodel' dance. Who knew it would work?! They have been here since noonish and have so far ripped up half the asbestos tile and carpet and removed the bathtub. They just left to pick up the new tub. Whoopie!!!! Here are some goodbye pictures to remember the old bathroom.

Bathroom Non-update

OK, so my subject heading is not proper English but it is the truth. The latest news is that the contractors shall be arriving Thursday of this week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed...very tightly crossed. In the meantime, our electrician arrived and hung the kitchen and bathroom light fixtures. They look fabulous! The bathroom fixture is a crystal chandelier with 80 individual 'crystal' balls to hang onto the light fixture. Each is individually wrapped in plastic and attaches via a key chain type hook. What a project...but it looks great! One more bathroom remodel related item. So tonight Matt and I were talking about the remodel and I mentioned something about the hardwood floors that will be refinished in there. Matt - "We're going to have hardwood floors in the bathroom?" Sarah - puzzled look Matt - "What?" Sarah - "Are you kidding?" Matt - "About what?" Apparently I have made all the decisions on this bathroom work while talki
