Bunny Hop

Image
Ok, so Easter was a couple of weeks ago. Oops. I'm just now getting around to posting a pick from our Easter events. The one below was taken at the La Porte City Bunny Hop. Kids walked (some ran) door to door collecting an Easter goodie at most of the businesses in the Main Street area. What you can't see from the picture below is that 10 seconds after this shot was taken, Kate firmly planted her little yellow sucker in the thick arm fur of the giant chicken. I expected tears but instead she laughed and laughed and lauged. Even today if she sees this picture she recounts the story of how her sucker got stuck on the "BIG chicken."

Surprise!! The contractors are done!! I still need to paint the walls and woodwork but it is looking great! I didn't want to build a full wall and break up the bathroom so we had a partial tile wall with glass to the ceiling for the 3rd shower wall. The tile looks amazing and I promise to take more pics after my camera battery charges...
I'm thinking of emptying Kate's sock drawer into the car. Each morning I get her dressed, including socks...but somehow the socks are removed before her feet ever hit the main floor. Before 9 a.m. this morning I had put socks on her feet three times and her shoes twice. By the time we got to Mom's Morning Out in Cedar Falls she had removed both her socks, her shoes and her hair tie. I felt lucky she was wearing clothes. So I figured life would be much easier if I just waited to dress her until we arrive at our destination. I also feel as if I need to take a moment to thank God for my open sunroof. I was running errands during the 'free' hour of Mom's Morning Out and I opened my sunroof. Not something I do too regularly but it was such a gorgeous morning. After errands, I drive back to the church to pick up Kate. As I'm buckling her car seat (sans shoes by the way) I accidentally hit the lock button on my car keyring. I also absentmindedly tossed th

Just a quick thought on the last post

No matter how messy the house becomes during playdates, it is almost always worth it to have some time for adult conversation. Despite any difficulties I loved having my two friends and their kids over on Tuesday. Thanks girls!
We all know who the Octomom is, right? In case you have been living in a bubble, let me quick explain. Octomom is a woman in California with 14 children, all under the age of 9 or something insane like that. She has been quoted saying she hopes to raise all 14 by herself, with no help. When I first heard that I thought, good for her! Glad it is not me, but maybe she can really do it with lots of patience and love. After today...I think she is one crazy lunatic. What I am about to share is a true story. The names have been changed to protect the innocent. Ellen - mother to Greg and Tyler, provides daily care for two other children, Renee and Cole Linda - mother to Denise and Carly Me (Sarah) - mother to Kate Each Tuesday Ellen, Linda and I get together for a play date. Really it is less for the children and more for us moms to interact with adults. Well this Tuesday's play date was scheduled for my house. The first two hours or so went really smoothly. The kids played well; made som

Poor Daddy...

Matt got his feelings hurt this weekend...but he kind of backed into it. He decided to play the game "What do you like better" with Kate. Here is a piece of that conversation... -Who do you like better, Mommy or Daddy? MOMMY! -Who do you like better, Daddy or Baxter the kitty? KITTY! -What do you like better, Daddy or this coffee cup? CUP! -What do you like better, Daddy or dirt? DIRT! -What do you like better, Daddy or garbage? GARBAGE! -What do you like better, Daddy or poop? Well...I think you can guess the answer. So Matt pouted around for awhile. Sulking that in Kate's eyes he is no better than poo. After recovering from the heartbreak he dared to ask her again. -Who do you like better, Mommy or Daddy? DADDY! Matt turned to me with the biggest, happiest smile on his face. Finally, he won the game over me. But then Kate fell over giggling, "NO! MOMMY!" At least he had a couple seconds of glory, but still today poo wins over daddy. I told Matt

So you had a bad day...

Almost everything about this day has left me down in the dumps. But rather than dwell on the negatives, I will attempt to find the positive in the 'poo sandwich' that was my day. Late this morning I learned that we would be getting a new screen door for the house!! Boy, was it windy out there. I was looking to spend a few hundred dollars on a new door. At least I will get to pick out a pretty one! And I've always thought my driver's license picture wasn't so cute. Thankfully I'll get to take a new photo. I'll also get a chance to replace all of those credit cards, bank card, insurance cards, etc. Oh, and I'll get to pick out a new, fun wallet too. Maybe I'll try for something daring rather than the black one I previously owned. I baked cookies today. I have always wanted to try making oatmeal chocolate chip. The eight surviving cookies were really yummy. Actually, I've only tried one of the eight survivors but it was mighty tasty. Thankfully the
