My six year old...

Well the big day finally arrived. Kate has been counting down the days until her birthday for the past 364 days...yes, that is right. She more or less began after her fifth birthday. The girl loves her birthday.

Kate continue to grow. We have not yet take her official measurement but she is somewhere around 54 inches tall. Did I mention she just turned six? I'm sure she'll level out.

Kate likes toys but what she really likes is people. She is a people person, an extrovert and an attention seeker. She would choose a person over a toy any day. I love that about her but it can sometimes be a little exhausting. This year she has grown a love for climbing trees, eating as fast as she possibly can, writing 'letters' to people and singing. She isn't shy about belting out her favorite tune accompanied with a dance that usually involves her tipping over at some point. (This is where her height is a challenge.) This year she has also begged to become a mermaid, to appear on the television show The Voice, to appear on the television show Ellen, to open her own restaurant where she 'cooks' peanut butter on bread or blueberries with whipped cream . She also wants to create her own outdoor stand to sell things and make money. She has wanted to sell homemade cards, lemonade, cookies and, I quote, "things I don't really like so I can get rid of them and make some money." When I objected to the last suggestion she then said she could sell off things that I don't like.

Kate also loves to dress herself in "fancy outfits." She wore the below ensemble on the night of her birthday. None of us had any clue she was donning a separate skirt over her inside out leggings and underneath her inside out dress. While Kate and her sister, CJ, sometimes fight, Kate really does share well. If she has a bag of M&Ms, Kate will often save a few for CJ. Kate will even sometimes give her desserts to CJ. Unfortunately Kate will also eat CJ's dinner when we're not looking. I have a feeling that has more to do with CJ coercing Kate than it does with Kate being kind.

We gave Kate a trampoline and a stop watch for her birthday. They have been a hit!

Happy 6th birthday to our dear, sweet Kate.
She has a kind heart and a generous spirit.
