Things that are awesome...
The word awesome is most likely way over used. Do I over use it? I certainly do, but in this case the things below could make the most negative grump say, "whoa, that is awesome."
Sidenote: there really is a website called thingsthatareawesome.com. Any excitement I had to create such a site is now dashed.
My list of recent awesome things....
Kids reenacting the musical, Les Miserables:
I joke about how tired I am of hearing Les Mis songs but truly it is fun to see all five of these kids take such an interest in trying to recreate the musical together.

Finding old school Easter hats and making art:
When we moved into our house six years ago we found lots of "treasures" left behind, including these Easter hats. I never got them out until one summer day upon a terrible bout of desperation. The number of disagreements had hit a record high and it was either find something else for them to do or Mom was going to physically exploded like a volcano. Cue making art in fancy hats... It worked brilliantly.

First day of school:
I love summer. We all love summer. But it was time. Time for routine. Time for adult supervision from an adult other than me. Time for direction. Thankfully Kate was thrilled for the start of school. It was a fabulous summer having her home every day and I hope she will love second grade.

Kids reenacting the musical, Les Miserables:
Our neighbors and friends were cast in the Waterloo Community Playhouse summer musical Les Miserables. Since then Kate sings Les Mis songs all day. No, really. All day. Like all the time. Here they are recreating the first scene and singing "Look Down."
"Fantine" here has bit the dust...on a porch swing.
I don't recall training wheels in the musical though.
Not sure what scene Natalie is participating in. Was there breakdancing in that play?
Here is "young Cosette." She apparently was a breakdancer also.

Her buddy next door, Asher.
And her other buddy next door, Finn.
(He isn't in school yet but he wanted to look the part.)
CJ on the other hand didn't care about looking the part.

This bread recipe:
This bread is awesome. Totally and completely awesome. I have made a lot of bread, and eaten a lot of bread in my life, but absolutely nothing is as good as this bread. If there was a Billboard Charts for bread this recipe would be number one for 8 million straight weeks. Lady Gaga made herself a meat suit. I would make myself a bread suit out of this stuff. Try it out. You won't regret it. You can find the recipe by clicking on this sentence.
(Psst...I didn't use bread flour, just plain ol' unbleached white flour and I lived to tell about it.)
Rediscovering temporarily forgotten music:
The other day when I was feeling slightly grumpy I dug through my old CDs and found Everclear. I shrieked, bounced my way to the CD player and proceeded to have a dance party with Natalie. I love 90's rock/grunge. This is just one of the many songs from the awesome album, So Much for the Afterglow. (Sadly I could not find an official video.)
And there you have it. Awesome things to make your day a bit more awesome. Excuse me while I sign off. I need to dig through more CDs.

P.S. Amen about school starting. CJ just makes me laugh.
