Nostalgia...

When I was living at home I had a favorite pin tucked into a desk drawer. It read, "Chlorine: Breakfast of Champions." And although I was never a 'champion' I consumed my fair share of chlorine morning and night and I enjoyed it like a fine dessert. Water, swimsuits, caps and goggles, sunshine, starting blocks...these things were home to me.

While lounging poolside one day this summer I watched CJ run towards water too deep while Kate begged to throw herself off the diving board. I was annoyed. I just wanted to sit poolside, darn it. And that is when the invisible, cartoon inspired light bulb turned on above my head. When did I become so boring?? When did I decide fun is described by sitting motionless on the side of the pool? So I too threw myself into the deep end. I cannonballed off the diving board, raced down the water slide and I blew bubbles underwater with CJ. And that was the moment my inner child stomped on my outer adult and redefined fun.

The last time I attempted to resurrect my inner child I was left with callused hands and bruises behind my knees after attempting pinwheels on the park high bar. Apparently pinwheels are not okay, but to touch the bottom of the 12 foot with my palms...now that is what I'm talking about.

I guess I've hit my stride this summer. Our pool time has (mostly) been a nostalgic rollercoaster into my early years. Right now the girls love me for it but I imagine someday soon the pink on their cheeks will be a product of embarrassment rather than sunshine. So I best soak up their attention and love now.

Yah, Kate looks half asleep here but everyone else looked good so I wanted to share. And yes, I also realize I talk a lot about the pool and swimming in this post and yet I have zero pool pics. I'm just trying to keep you on your toes.
