Some things I forgot to share...

Some weekend things I meant to share but slipped my mind...

I got new running shoes.  I doubt you care but they relieved my foot and hip pain.
Apparently I really needed new shoes.
Oh, and that is some Gu sitting by my shoes.  Tastes weird and has a terrible texture but really gives you a boost of energy on those long runs.  I recommend it.  Just make sure you drink some water with it.


Kate got to decorate her bike and then ride it in the Kiddie Parade this weekend.
She LOVED it.


CJ has learned to go down slides by herself.  Almost always on her tummy.  Any other way is quite the disaster.
She also loves to play in wood chips at the new park and she almost always keeps them out of her mouth...almost always.  :)

Matt and I played in a kickball tournament with some of our friends Saturday morning and afternoon.
We won the entire tournament, too! 
It was SO fun!  But perhaps I shouldn't have attempted a 13 mile run before it.  Oops!

No real story here.  It is just a cute picture!

And finally, Kate wore herself out Sunday afternoon by jumping off the diving board and swimming to the side BY HERSELF 38 times in a row.  I took her to the pool for a last summer hurrah and she started swimming under water.  So when the deep end was open for a free swim I went out to the middle of the deep end and told Kate if she could jump off the side, swim to me, turn around and swim back, then I would let her go off the diving board.  Well the little fish did that about 10 times.  I couldn't believe it.  I agreed to let her go off the diving board with me hovering on the side of the pool just in case but she didn't need any help.  38 times she jumped off that diving board.
And as you may have guessed, she was one tired girl by the end of the day.

I'm so impressed with the swimming! Glad such a nice weekend and got lots of good pictures. Kate looks so happy riding in the parade!

I like the tutu in the photo. 38 times, wow. Okay the word verification word today is "hamstere" to log in my account and comment. I get a kick out of the words they come up with.

At the young age of 14, our oldest daughter was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Glioblastoma is not a cancer with stages. It is only stage four; that's how deadly and impossible it is to heal from. When the pediatric oncologist sat herself onto Kate's hospital bed to share the awful news, Kate simply and stone-faced asked if she was going to die. "Do nothing and yes, you will." March Madness 2024...

Let's talk brackets. I love a good competition. I love to win. But when I don't win I can typically move on quite quickly from a loss (unless we are specifically talking about Big Six Swim Offs, but I digress.) We have a family group on ESPN for the men's NCAA basketball tournament and it's "high stakes" with no entry fee, a chocolate rabbit for the winner and most importantly bragging rights. While I've never won, nor have I ever been close to winning, I thought I'd share my rationale for my picks through the first round of play. You should not follow this advice but if you so choose to, don't blame me when you too lose out to a cat with it's own bracket. East Region UConn 1 v Stetson 16: This is a silly way to start because it's a 16 v a 1 seed and clearly we know the very likely outcome of this game.
