In other news...

I apologize for not getting the winning post finished on Monday but yesterday was a very busy day.
I don't think neither Matt nor I sat down until 9:00ish last night...to eat dinner!

Over the weekend we began cleaning this place out.  We rented a dumpster and basically shook the house upside down to see what falls out.  The previous owners loved and cared for this house dearly but there was a lot of stuff left in it.  And we are finally saying goodbye to what isn't ours.

On top of cleaning, I had two meetings last night plus preschool sign-up for Kate.  And then returned home for a 6 mile run.  I had to do my 6 miler in the dark which means no running on the trails.  And it is not easy to find 6 miles to run in La Porte.  I know from experience.  Back in June '08 during the floods I had to run 11 miles in town because all the trails and 7 of the 8 entrances to La Porte were under water.  Thankfully I overheated from dehydration and didn't finish my 11 miles.  I was starting to get awfully dizzy looking for 11 complete miles.

Anyway, while I was out Matt bought us a grill (yippee!!), bathed and put both girls to bed, made supper and did the laundry.

Nonetheless, we were two very tired parents by the end of the day.

Let me wrap up this post with a few funny pics.  While in the shower this morning, Matt, Kate and CJ played princesses.  Matt set up a little scene for Kate and both girls loved it.


In this scene Cinderella was apparently instructing all the ladies on something. 
I heard some murmurs of a warning for the girls to stay away from Cinderella's Prince Charming.

Cinderella won her man and now they get to dance in Candy Land Castle.

Do you remember the story of Cinderella?  Her 'evil' stepmother has a cat named Lucifer?
Well, Kate said that I have to play the role of the stepmother and CJ had to be Lucifer.

But along comes Princess Tiana to rescue Snow White.
Princess Tiana is her real name but Kate says she is actually Dr. Tiana.  Ok.
Oh, and notice the Lucifer slobber on the arm of the chair.

I think Lucifer may have licked Dr. Tiana because she is looking awfully shiny.

The mention of slobber reminds me....CJ is getting two teeth!
I can't believe it!  Kate didn't get teeth until she was 13 months old.
I guess my two girls really are different....but both are super cute!

The bald one didn't back off and Cinderella ripped her hair out as a warning to the other girls. You don't mess with Cinderella's man!

Also, I think Prince Charming and Cinderella are dancing a little close. Lets get the fire hose out!

Yumm! I had to laugh out loud on the photo of CJ with Snow White in her mouth. At least the princesses have nice hair. Mieke's Barbie from the Happy Meal looks like a rat's nest.

To be brave...

At the young age of 14, our oldest daughter was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Glioblastoma is not a cancer with stages. It is only stage four; that's how deadly and impossible it is to heal from. March Madness 2024...

Let's talk brackets. I love a good competition. I love to win. But when I don't win I can typically move on quite quickly from a loss (unless we are specifically talking about Big Six Swim Offs, but I digress.) We have a family group on ESPN for the men's NCAA basketball tournament and it's "high stakes" with no entry fee, a chocolate rabbit for the winner and most importantly bragging rights. While I've never won, nor have I ever been close to winning, I thought I'd share my rationale for my picks through the first round of play. You should not follow this advice but if you so choose to, don't blame me when you too lose out to a cat with it's own bracket. East Region UConn 1 v Stetson 16: This is a silly way to start because it's a 16 v a 1 seed and clearly we know the very likely outcome of this game.
