Help Needed

Hello all. We are all moved into our house and couldn't be happier. I will post more later along with pictures but I can't find the camera cord right now.

My friend's house was destroyed in the tornado that hit Parkersburg / New Hartford this weekend. Below is the story from another friend. Megan and her husband, Mike, have four kids ages four, three and twins that are almost two years old. They just built the house and moved in a year ago this past March. They have lost everything. If you have any clothes, shoes, toys or life necessities to share please mail them to me and I'll make sure Megan and her family get them. My mailing address is:

300 Walnut Street, La Porte City, IA 50651

Ian (size 5)
Alli (size 4/5)
Hanna (size 24mo/2T)
Cooper (needs nothing, he was blessed and they have all of his stuff!)
Megan (size medium or size 8)
Mike (pants 38/32, shirts size XL)

Below is the story...

They are alive. When they built the house, they put a solid cement room under the front porch. Megan and the kids were in there. That room is all that survived. The room had an outside door on it even though it opened in to the basement. Good thing. When the storm hit, the wind tried to blow in the door, but Megan pushed against the wind and held the door shut. She said she could hear things hit the door. The kids got a little muddy even though they were in that room, but all were kept safe.

Todd had called Mike and asked him to go to their home and close windows. So, Mike was at Todd's house. He could see the storm coming and then it got so dark out he couldn't see their house. Once the storm passed, he could see his house was gone, not knowing if his family survived. The basement wall even collapsed.

Mike and Todd (I think it was both of them) went outside and heard a woman screaming. They found the neighbor lady in a tree with her arm mostly cut off. She had many cuts and was badly injured. They took her on the gator to the ambulance. I think Chris was over there by then. She kept asking them to stay with her. She died this morning. They found her husband in the field dead. They lived across the street from Megan & Mike. They did not have a basement.

There are so many houses on their road that are just gone. It is so strange. I can't believe nobody else died on that road.

We went through the field looking for stuff. We found both their billfolds (with everything in them). How nice that they don't have to replace that stuff. We also picked up clothes. For some reason, most of what we found were winter clothes.

They also have a few toys. Lindsey took those home and is washing them. The only other stuff they have was what was in the storage room. Mike just commented that they should get rid of that stuff since that hadn't used it since they moved in. Ironic that the only things that survived is stuff they were going to throw away.

The car that stayed at the house is totaled. The van Mike took to Todd's is fine. It had the car seats in it.

Tonight they are staying at Todd's. They don't know after that. The only clothes they have were purchased by a friend. They need everything.

We never found furniture, appliances (none of them) or anything big. There was a huge motor found, but it wasn't theirs. We also found clothes in their basement that weren't theirs.
I've never seen anything like it. Megan & Mike don't know if they are going to rebuild. If they do, Mike can't build it again. It would have to be hired.
Below are pictures of Megan's house. Also here is a link to aerial photos of the tornado damage in Parkerburg. http://picasaweb.google.com/generaldcmills/ParkersburgTornado/photo#s5204893272879008178
