Waiting...
Isn't it just like Iowa...tease us with 90 degree temps, swimming pools and air conditioners...ice cream sundaes, sun dresses and sun tinted skin...
And then two days later we get the privilege of digging back out sweat pants, slippers, bulky sweatshirts and hot cocoa.
Sigh.
I lived in my clearance rack Birkenstocks this week.
Kate enjoyed them too, while CJ rocked the men's size 13 ISU shoes.
Yes, that is a GIGANTIC Iowa State sign on the wall back there. Matt's birthday gift to himself awhile back.
Many moons ago during graduate school my friend, Fletcher, and I used to say to ourselves, "You never know what or who is around the corner."
The line was probably more often then not in reference to a man. Our own Prince Charming.
But the same applies to our life still today.
What will Iowa weather bring us next week?
How many more babies will each of us be blessed with?
Will I ever run a sub 1:48 half marathon?
Will my daughters skip the teenager drama and instead want to spend every moment with me?
I am guessing a big-fat-no to that based on Miss Claudia's latest dress-up obsession.
This pic was snapped five minutes after she woke up one morning this week.
And no, we didn't put her to bed in the Sleeping Beauty dress.
She went straight from crib to toy room, yanked the gown off the hook and pulled it over her bed head hair and sagging diaper.
Life is great when what waits around the corner is happiness, dancing and chocolate pie. (Some of my favorites!)
But life is hard when we face those tough challenges.
I have been a bit of a worrier lately.
I worry about whether or not I'm raising my girls right.
I worry they watch too many cartoons.
I worry that my impatience is rubbing off on them.
I worry about...
I guess the important thing is to just keep trying.
Pray and try and forget your mistakes. Or maybe learn from those mistakes.
But man alive when I take note I begin to realize the large tally of mistakes I've made.
But I'm gonna keep on trying because these two monkeys are too important.
And too amazingly fun...
