Yippeee

I am currently typing this post on our new laptop. It somehow arrived a week and a half early and I could not be more thrilled. Now I just have to figure out all the new technology on these things. The start button is in a different location, new windows don't just open up they are now tabs which took me quite awhile to figure out. Anyway, I'm happy to be connected to the outside world again. So some updates on us. Kate is saying a few more words...kind of. She apparently really likes words that start with 'b.' This includes ball, bird and bump. She will also say yeah and no. So fun. She also has developed a love for the huge torndao slide at the park as well as the big kid swings. She is so brave. Still no electrical bids. We are almost literally waving money in front of contractors' faces and they won't return a bid. We're not even asking them to start work, we just want to know how much the job will cost us. Well I'm going to try to figure ...

new computer...sometime soon

Hi all! We ordered a new computer on Sunday and it should arrive about one week after Labor Day. Argh...I have to continue to be patient. Luckily Matt's brother, Mike, lives only a block and a half away from our house so I can easily bounce over there to check email while Kate hangs on me...or types for me. (As she is doing now.) Hope everyone is well. Just because I don't have regular email access doesn't mean I have disappeared. Send an email our way anytime. Or post a comment on the blog. Once we get our new computer I have a lot of great photos and stories to share. Have a great day!

I miss modern technology

Our computer was attacked by a thunderstorm Saturday night. Best Buy says it will be $75 and one week before they can even diagnose the problem. Then we'll have to pay more to fix it, not to mention wait a couple more weeks. So I will have VERY limited computer use. I will try to hop online every couple of days at my brother-in-laws house. What did we do before computers?!?!

Kate's obsession

As everyone knows, Matt loves Iowa State. And he has worked hard to earn Kate's love for Iowa State...or more specifically Cy. Matt has placed various Cy figurines throughout Kate's room on clothing, pictures, ISU brochures, Cy squeeze toys and the list goes on. Lately Kate has found great joy in pointing out Cy and sharing her hugs and kisses with Cy. Last night was no exception. While I was away at golf league, Matt pulled up pictures of Cy online and Kate told Cy how much she cares for him. I guess the pictures are proof. Kate spies Cy. Kate moves in on Cy. Smack!

I am the luckiest mama

Kate is doing awesome with her 'big girl bed.' This morning she awoke around her normal time despite sleeping in a different place. And I just put her down for a nap with...I hate to say it...is this a jinx....I'm going to say it anyway....with NO problems!! I put her in bed (after shooing away the cat), sang her a few songs while rubbing her back, said goodnight and walked out. I haven't heard a peep or a cry or a giggle. Perhaps she is playing with her toys and jumping on the bed as I type, but it is going really well so far. Keep your fingers crossed!!!

Growing so fast...

Kate spent her first night in a 'big girl bed.' She fell out twice but is still sleeping right now. I finally pushed her crib up against the exposed side of the bed. She looks like a caged animal. We had no other choice but to teach her to sleep in a regular bed. We spent the night at Matt's grandma's house on Tuesday and when we put Kate to bed in her pack and play, she didn't fit. She is too long. I'm thinking she may take after her 6'4" dad. We are going on vacation in August and in November and if Kate doesn't learn to sleep in a regular bed before our trips then she will have to sleep in the hotel bathtub. I'm curious to see what happens when she awakes this morning...and when it is time for nap later this afternoon. Pray for me. :)

Two of Kate's favorites...

Two of Kate's favorite things is to unpack groceries and to eat grapes... I just never expected the two to occur at the same time. (By the way, I did not place the grapes on the floor for her. I returned from the car with more bags to find her shoveling grapes into her mouth at a very high rate of speed.)
